In, Out and thumbnail

Open an Insert’s settings → Mark In / Out / Thumbnail….

In, Out and thumbnail markers. The movie preview is black in this native capture.
  1. Timeline / frame controls. Scrub, play or step frames to the picture you need.
  2. Mark In / Mark Out. Set the playable range. Duration updates as points change. Reset points restores the full clip.
  3. Mark thumbnail. Choose the tile picture independently of In/Out. Reset thumbnail restores its default.

Cuts, fades and stingers

Each destination tile chooses Cut, Fade or Stinger in its settings. The return uses the selected Loop’s transition.

Normal Fade and Output Black have separate project-saved durations.
  1. Fade duration. Settings → Transitions controls every normal Fade. Default: 0.5 seconds, saved per project.
  2. Output Black fade. Sets the matched picture/audio fade for Black separately.
The stinger timeline and cut point, cropped from Transitions settings.
  1. Timeline. Add a genuine alpha stinger, then scrub or step to its picture-switch frame.
  2. Use playhead. Commit that frame as the cut point. Set Mute audio in the stinger settings if required.

Natural Fade/stinger return starts before the Insert ends. A missing or failed stinger falls back to the intended destination with Fade; check its fault before using it again.

Pages, order and live changes

Use tile settings for per-clip changes; use drag and drop for position.

Example pages and tiles in the main window.
  1. Pages. Add/name pages and switch with tabs or Loop arrows. Drag a page tab to reorder it.
  2. Move tiles. Drag, or use the context menu below. Empty targets move; occupied same-type targets swap.
  3. Tile settings. Change media keeps the current source playing and uses the replacement next time. Playing/retiring tiles cannot be removed.

Native menu panels captured separately; backdrop omitted.

Insert settings, cropped above the source-file details.
  1. Mute audio. Changes the currently playing Insert immediately, without restart. Off remains silent regardless of this setting.

A Failed Insert marker remains until successful replacement or a complete successful playback. Dismissing its fault does not clear it.

The Move menu requires the next app update.

Defaults and updates

Project playback choices are saved with the project. Display/audio destinations stay on this Mac.

Project playback settings, including the default transition for new videos.
  1. Default transition. Applies to newly added videos; Fade is the default. Existing tile choices remain.
  2. Preserve loop playback position. Off restarts Loops on entry. On resumes their held position; hidden Loops do not keep playing.
Update settings. A download is offered only when a release is available.
  1. Check for updates. Save and finish playback first. If a release is offered, use Download, Install and Restart. Otherwise install the supplied newer DMG through Finder after quitting.
