10 / THE SHOW GUIDE

Get the show back on track

Start with the message in the app, then check the part of the setup involved.

On is greyed out, or the TV shows the desktop

  1. Check the TV is connected, on the correct input and set up as an extended display.
  2. In Settings → Video Output, choose the intended External display.
  3. Choose an available Loop or Black tile, then click Output On.

After a screen or cable disconnects, Off is deliberate. Reconnecting does not automatically put the show back on air. Choose On or Black when you are ready.

There is picture but no sound

First check what is playing: Loops are silent, as are the trim and stinger previews. An Insert or stinger also needs sound in its source file.

In Audio Output, check Audio destination, Program volume and Mute program audio. Then check Mute audio in that clip's settings.

Set Output Off before using Play audio test, then listen at the audience speakers and laptop. If the TV is not listed, check the cable or hub connection before choosing the route again. Keep macOS set to the Mac speakers, then mute them, as described on Screen & sound.

An Insert does not start when clicked

Output must be On. Black and Off block Inserts. A tile with missing media cannot play.

Clicking the already-playing Insert does not restart it. During a fade or stinger, let the whole transition finish, then click the next Insert again.

An Insert says Failed

The app has returned to a Loop after a playback failure. The Failed marker stays on that Insert so you can find the problem.

Check its file and use Change media… to choose a working replacement. Dismissing the fault does not clear the marker; successful replacement or a complete successful playback does.

A Loop or stinger fails

If a playing Loop fails, the app goes to the next available Loop. If none can play, it holds black with Output On. Check the fault and choose a working source.

If a stinger is unavailable, the intended picture uses the shared Fade instead. If it fails during the transition, the app finishes entering that destination. Check or replace the stinger before relying on it again. Its saved assignment is kept.

Install an available update

  1. Save the project and finish any live playback first.
  2. Open Settings → Update and click Check for updates.
  3. If an update is offered, choose Download, Install and Restart. Read the output-interruption confirmation before continuing.

If there is no published release, there is nothing to download. If the Mac will not allow the app to replace itself, quit it and install the newer DMG through Finder instead.
